GHS, Globally Harmonized System, is a system for classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals. It was adopted by UN in 2001, and it is the aim that all countries worldwide should implement the system in order to insure uniform methods for evaluation and communication of hazards.

In EU GHS was implemented in January 2009. The EU implementation is called CLP, Classification, Labelling and Packaging of chemicals. On this site you can find more details about GHS and CLP.
